I’m thrilled to share that my short film 1619 has been selected to screen at the Miami Arts Tech Summit this December during Art Basel. This 1-minute experimental AI short was created using LTX Studio’s Google Veo 3 and Freepik, and this will be the very first time it plays on a big screen — but it definitely won’t be the last.
1619 is more than a film; it’s the beginning of a much larger project I’m developing about the Middle Passage and the brutal journey my ancestors endured. This piece is a tribute to their resilience, their sacrifices, and the impossible choices they were forced to make. Using AI felt powerful in its own way, a modern tool to illuminate a history that still echoes through generations.
I’m honored to have this story included in the Miami Arts Tech Summit lineup, and I can’t wait to share more as the project continues to grow.
