I’m excited to share that I’ve been nominated for the inaugural Zelda Awards — a new celebration honoring women who are shaping the comic book industry.
These awards are named after Zelda Jackie Ormes, the first Black female cartoonist in the United States. Her full name was Zelda Jackie Ormes, and she is a true Shero whose footsteps I’ve been following since founding Shero Comics. Her legacy opened the door for creators like me to build new worlds and bring new heroes to life.
I’m honored to be nominated in two categories:
Founders Award: Ink the Future — recognizing creators who are changing the industry
Best Children’s Graphic Novel — for Young Grandmaster Choi
This recognition comes during Year 10 of Shero Comics. Over the past decade, we’ve built a universe centered on brave, resilient girls — and it’s powerful to see our Sheros recognized as part of the future of comics.
Public voting is now open, and your vote makes a difference.
