A Master Storyteller

A Shero Talk for the Girl Scouts

I had the absolute joy of leading another Shero Talks workshop this week — this time with the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles. Two incredible groups of Cadettes and Juniors joined me for a special badge-earning session, and from the moment we began, these girls were fully locked in. The time flew by.

Together, we walked through the fundamentals of storytelling and comic creation. They wrote a page with me, crafted their own original stories, and then brought a comic page I prepared to life with their ideas and coloring. Every single page centered on Sheroes — girls who are brave, bold, and powerful in their own unique ways. Their talent was unbelievable, and as you’ll see in the photos (shared with parent approval), their creativity was next-level.

One of the best moments of the day was watching some of the shyest girls in the room come forward to read their work out loud with me. That kind of confidence shift is exactly why I do Shero Talks.

A highlight I’ll never forget: a father approached me to thank me for mentoring his daughter last month, and shared how much she’s grown since our session. Moments like that remind me that I am exactly where I’m meant to be — using storytelling to empower the next generation.

I’m so proud of every Scout who participated, and grateful to Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles for inviting me to pour into these brilliant young creators. More Shero Talks are on the way.
